Frindle by Andrew Clements
Another great read! This one was actually recommended by a student after a recent book report assignment. He loved the book and thought I would too- and he sure was right! Clements grabbed my attention right away with his characters and kept me hooked until the very end. This is the story of a boy who comes up with a new word for 'pen'. Not realizing it would take off as it did, he began using it in his classes. Soon everyone is using it and the teachers are not happy! I especially love the way the book ends, but I won't give too much away here. Be sure to pick up your copy soon and let me know what YOU think!
Gooney Bird Greene by Lois Lowry
Wow! What a terrific book. Gooney Bird is a 2nd grader who just moved to town. She immediately becomes a model story-teller and linguist in her class as she tells ONLY absolutely true stories. The book has pictures to help the reader see just how wacky and creative Gooney Bird is-- This is a must read!! If you like it, there are several more that follow!
Welcome!
Welcome to my blog! I am a 3rd grade teacher. I've always LOVED reading and would love for my students to enjoy reading too! I plan to read through my class library, posting summaries and reviews about the books. Feel free to comment and share your opinion here too!
